강열한 향이 나는 나뭇잎은 주류에 첨가되고,

이 나뭇잎은 부패방지와 항바이러스성의 오일을 함유하고 있다.
에센셜 오일은 향수에 사용되며, 아울러 입가의 발진, 산포성 타박상을 치료하는데,
또는 자상을 치유하는 데 사용된다. 히솝은 포푸리와 세탁 린스에 첨가된다.
재배 및 주의사항
바람을 피할 수 있는 곳으로, 햇볕이 잘 드는 곳에서 잘자라며,
부슬부슬하고 마른 배수성이 좋은 알칼리성 토양을 좋아한다.
봄이나 가을에 뿌리 나누기를 해서 번식시키거나 봄에 파종하며,
쉽게 발아하지만 느리게 자란다.
